Are You Led By Your Head?
Did you know that the average human has 30,000 thoughts a day? That’s a lot of information running through your head. Perhaps these thoughts persist of some facts, some useless information, silly thoughts, maybe some angry thoughts, or negative thoughts. Maybe even some things you wouldn’t dare say out loud. Do we ever really stop to think about what’s running through our head or how its effecting us? When talking about our thoughts I like to use the example of a car. Your mind is like the engine of the car. How fast you drive, where you go, the temperature controls…everything about you (the car) is dependent upon your mind (the engine). If your mind is being polluted with negative thoughts, fears, or anxiety you’ll never get your car in life moving. You’ll be stuck in a stagnant, frustrating place in life. Negative thoughts are like poison to your mind and to your soul. And just as you wouldn’t pour poison down the engine of your car…we need to not let negativity poison our mind and ability to succeed. The truth is that if we are ever going to truly be led by God and accomplish the greatest dreams He has given us, we need to learn to be led by Him and not our head!
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
To renew means to make something new, fresh, or strong again. To transform means to completely change. So to renew our mind really means we are perfecting our thoughts and becoming mentally strong. If we aim to do this, it will totally change our thinking in every area of our life.
Satan will use your negative thoughts to keep you out of the will of God. All he needs you to think is you’re not good enough, talented enough, or strong enough to do anything. There is no room for God in our mind when it’s flooded with negativity. God wants you to believe in yourself. He wants you to forgive yourself of your past and of your failures. When God looks at you He sees your potential not your shortcomings. Don’t allow negativity to steal the promises of God in your life. Your mind will keep you stuck in today. But God wants to bring you into your tomorrow.
Let’s make the choice today to be led by God and not our own head! God believes in you and the dreams He has placed within you.
